The Santos de Cartier Large model family, which strengthened its presence in the luxury sports watch segment with its renewed face in 2018, is expanding with two new versions this year. The new models differ from the previous versions with the blue PVD-coated bezel detail.
Santos de Cartier, which is among the cult members of the luxury sports watch segment, had a comprehensive yet loyal-to-original update in 2018. With the help of its classic design elements, the model family, which is shown as an icon not only for Cartier but also for the watch world in general, again appeared before watch lovers with two new models introduced within the scope of Watches & Wonders 2022.
The new models come in a rectangular case measuring 47.5mm x 39.8mm x 9.37mm. The case, which we are familiar with from the modern Santos de Cartier Large model family, is made of stainless steel. The distinctive feature of the case is the bezel with a blue PVD coating. The bezel, consisting of striped following the horizontal lines of the bracelet, highlights the sporty theme of the model family. The case, which has a sapphire crystal on the front and a solid cover on the back, sports a blue-colored faceted synthetic sapphire crystal-adorned winding crown. Emphasizing the versatile character of the model family with its stylish and sporty theme, the case is waterproof up to 100 meters.
There are two different dial options in the collection, blue and silver. Blue hands and indices accompany the silver-background dial. Phosphorus-filled silvery hands and indices serve on the blue-ground dial. The dial, which has a transverse striped surface surrounded by an hour/minute scale at the center point, has a date window at 6 o'clock.
The new models are powered by the in-house Caliber 1847 MC movement. Introduced in the Clé de Cartier model family in 2015, the automatic movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers a power reserve time of up to 42 hours when fully wound.
The models in the collection are accompanied by both a steel bracelet with a folding clasp and a blue rubber strap that also looks like the metal bracelet.
