Here we are with the latest version of the Octo Finissimo models, which broke records with their thinness, Ultra. The case of the new watch is only 1.8mm thick!
We prefer to use the expression thickness when informing about the case sizes of the watches. If you will excuse me, I'll use the term thinness for this watch in this article. The new Octo Finissimo Ultra is officially the world's thinnest mechanical wristwatch.
Bulgari has been designing and manufacturing the world's thinnest watches in different complication categories since 2014. 5mm Tourbillon, 6.85mm Minute Repeater, 5.15mm Automatic, 3.95mm Tourbillon Automatic, 6.9mm Chronograph, 7.4mm Tourbillon Chronograph, and finally 5.8mm Perpetual Calendar has turned the watch world upside down with their record-breaking thinness values. Our attentive followers will immediately realize that Bulgari is not the record holder for the thinnest mechanical time-only watch. This record belonged to the Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept with its thickness of 2mm. Bulgari, on the other hand, improves this value by 10 percent and reduces it to 1.8mm.
The watch comes with a 40mm diameter case and an integrated bracelet made of micro-bead blasted titanium. Of course, the extraordinary thinness of the case continues in the bracelet. Thanks to the bracelet's invisible clasp, the overall thinness of the model is maintained.
Octo Finissimo Ultra, which came out after a three-year R&D
period, offers eight different patents besides causing sleepless
nights to Bulgari engineers. The case back and the movement's main
plate are made of
DLC coated tungsten-carbide alloy. The bezel and mid-case are fixed
to the case back with screws. The 0.3mm-thin sapphire crystal is
attached to the bezel. The winding crown and adjustment lever are
on the back.
The balance system, which is only 1.13mm thin, is suspended on flexible bridges instead of the traditional shock protection system. The laser-engraved QR code on the plate above the main mainspring connects to the NFT piece exclusively produced for the model. The total thickness of the movement is 1.5mm. The 21 jewels manual-winding caliber has a power reserve of 50 hours. Hour, minute, and second indicators are placed on different axles to contribute to the finesse.
