Tudor – Half a Century Dedicated to Chronographs – Part 2

2010 - The Return of Homeplate

In 2010, Tudor decided to re-launch the "Homeplate" model, which led to the start of this legend, 40 years after the production of the first Tudor chronograph. The new model featured details such as the bezel, black and gray dials, the case, the winding crown, and a set of chronograph pushers, inspired by Ref: 7033, which was never available for sale. With the Heritage Chrono model, Tudor succeeded in bringing back the spirit of the original "Homeplate" with eye-catching details. The pentagonal form of the hour markers was preserved in the same way. Tudor introduced this model to watch enthusiasts with a stainless steel bracelet as well as a NATO-style strap made of fabric with tones in perfect harmony with the dial color.

In 2013, Heritage Chrono Blue, a new version of the same model with a blue dial, was launched. The new model was a perfect reproduction of the Monte Carlo, from the second generation Tudor chronographs that were launched in 1971.

The watches feature the automatic Caliber T401 movement with chronograph function. Details such as the 45-minute chronograph minute counter and the date window at 6 o'clock were preserved in the same way.

2013 - Fastrider & Mastering Ceramic

In 2013, Tudor decided to go beyond the traditional and introduced the Fastrider Black Shield, a matte black chronograph with a sporty design. Promising high performance with its monoblock ceramic case, the model has become one of the boldest watches in its segment. The Fastrider Black Shield, which was available in a black configuration with red, bronze, and white hour indices was equipped with the automatic chronograph Caliber T901. The new model was available with white stitching matte black leather or a black rubber strap.

2017 - Black Bay Chronograph

Since its first chronograph, the Oysterdate, went on sale in 1970, Tudor has continued to produce watches inspired by motorsports. Likewise, with the models it has produced since 1954, it has managed to become one of the important names in professional diver's watches. In 2017, Black Bay Chrono was an important step towards bringing the Black Bay family's diving heritage to the racetracks. The result was the Black Bay Chrono model, a chronograph with superior performance and a unique design. In the year of its release, the model won the best watch award at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève under CHF 8,000 price range.

The new model was powered by the in-house, self-winding chronograph Caliber MT5813. COSC certified movement, which was also developed together with the famous Swiss brand Breitling and based on the brand's Caliber B01 movement, benefited from all the advantages of modern watchmaking with its column wheel coordinator chronograph start system. In this way, the experience of two well-established brands came together in one caliber, and high precision, durability, and quality standards reached their peak.
