Ulysse Nardin introduced its latest limited edition model, which was inspired by the Mega Yachts as the name implies.
The brand, which has a unique place in the world of luxury watches with the marine themed models, offers a new dimension of design and inspiration in its new model, which combines the brand’s heritage with technological innovations. Featuring brilliant details like the miniature versions of yachting components such as a chain, an anchor and even a winch, the new model is developed in collaboration with Christophe Claret, just like the Grand Deck Marine Tourbillon model introduced in 2016.
The new model is offered in a Marine Chronometer concept style Platinum case measuring 44mm in diameter. The case is equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and is water resistant to 50 meters. The winding crown, which is decorated with an embossed Ulysse Nardin emblem, features a navy blue rubber band in line with the color theme of the model.
The mechanism developed to bring the model to life is the Caliber UN-631. The 504-piece hand-wound movement is equipped with Flying Tourbillon function at 6 o’clock. The movement offers 80 hours power reserve when fully wound which can be monitored through the indicator on the front face.
In the new model where mega yacht theme is followed, there are many details that refer to that theme. Tourbillon’s propeller-shaped cage at 6 o’clock is one of the first details in this regard. The power reserve indicator placed vertically between 3 and 4 o’clock of the deep blue vitreous enamel dial. There is a miniature winch at 12 o’clock, which moves simultaneously with the power reserve indicator mimicking the moves of an anchor. A three-dimensional moon phase indicator is located across the power reserve indicator. Below the moon figure is the horizontal tide indicator. The last detail, which emphasizes the concept of mega yachts, is the winding crown function selector that draws attention with its structure resembling the engine order telegraph of a steam ship.
