Vacheron Constantin introduced the Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar (Ref. 3200T/000P-B578), a new model featuring a pair of balance wheels which beat at different rates. The new model, hosting dual balance wheels beating at 5Hz and 1.2Hz, can offer a power reserve time of 65 days depending on the applied beat rate, which can be chosen by the user.
The system, which is currently in patent pending situation, optimizes the power consumption of the movement by activating two different balancing wheels at 36000vph or 8640vph per user’s choice. Both balances are powered by the same hairspring. Vacheron Constantin recommends the watch to be set at 5Hz when worn and 1.2Hz when it is off the wrist. Monitoring the power reserve is available thanks to the indicator placed on the top of the hairspring. The new model, which is designed and manufactured to the highest Vacheron Constantin standards Côtes de Genève decorations on the main plates and bridges, is powered by the manufacture Caliber 3610 QP. 64 jewels movement can be set to different vph rate modes by using the button located at 7 o’clock. It is equipped with perpetual calendar complication with day, date, month and leap year features.
The new model attracts a great deal of attention with its case dimensions measuring 42mm x 12.3mm, which is fairly compact considering the features tucked in. The platinum case is equipped with sapphire crystals on both sides and is water resistant to 30 meters.
The Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar comes with a dark gray alligator strap and a platinum buckle. MSRP is US$ 199,000.
