Zenith, one of the long-established names in the Swiss watchmaking industry, is the guest of our Hands On corner once again with its Chronomaster Open (Ref 51.2080.4061 / 69.c494) model from the legendary El Primero Collection.
The model is offered in the modern El Primero style case measuring 42mm in diameter and 14mm in height. The stainless steel case features a combination of matt and polished surfaces that are accompanied by an 18K pink gold bezel in line with the Bi-Color concept. Both sides of the case are equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals (AR coated on the front side). Despite the non-locking winding crown, the case is water resistant to 100 meters.
For the dial of the model, a light metallic gray background tone is preferred. An Open Heart-style display was added to the upper left side of the dial, which was accompanied by pink gold arms and indices in accordance with the Bi-Color concept. The frame of the display, where the balance wheel and the silicone escapement can be seen, is also prepared in pink gold tone. Blue and anthracite colors are used for the chronograph sub dials placed at 6 and 9 o’clock. A tachymeter scale is added to the outer side of the dial. The famous star logo of the brand is located at 11 o’clock.
Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Open is powered by the brand’s in-house movement Caliber Ref. 4061. Based on the legendary Caliber El Primero, the movement beats at 36000Hz (as per the original version) and offers a 50 hour power reserve when fully wound. Self-winding movement features upgrades like C.O.S.C. rating, silicon escapement and date display delete. Composed of 282 parts, 31 jewels movement can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display caseback.
The model is offered on a brown alligator strap which is secured by a Zenith signed folding claps made of stainless steel.
The Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Open (Ref 51.2080.4061 / 69.c494) is a very successful model that can be worn with both classic and casual outfits. The model has a balanced dose of the Open Heart theme that the brand has earned in the sector, and it gets a full note from us with its simpler designed dial compared to the Power Reserve and Moon Phase featured models in the collection.
