BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Since 1985, October has been declared 'breast cancer awareness month'. To garner support for the cause, initiatives such as the 2021 Pink Dial Project have emerged, in which 19 brands, including Zenith, donate watches with pink elements for auction. This year, Zenith is supporting the Susan G. Komen organization, the world's largest nonprofit fundraiser for the fight against breast cancer, with more than US$3.3 billion invested in research, support, and education in more than 60 countries.

The stylish model is based on the legendary A386 model introduced by the brand in 1968. The classic design, renovated by Zenith in 2021, comes with a 38mm diameter and 12.6mm high case that we can consider in the unisex class. The elegant case without a bezel is accompanied by a knurled crown and piston-style chronograph pushers. The case, which is made of stainless steel, has sapphire crystals on both sides. The compact case, which is almost the same as the original design introduced in 1969 with its thin case bands and faceted lugs, is produced to withstand 50 meters of water pressure.

The dial, which is the prominent distinguishing feature of the model, turns pink this time for breast cancer awareness. The striking dial, designed with a metallic sunray ground pattern, hosts the Tri-Compax chronograph layout, as in all other A386 models. The elegant dial, accompanied by baton-style hands and applique indices, promises sufficient legibility on almost any occasion with its SLN C1 phosphor material.

Caliber El Primero 3600, the most refined version of the El Primero movement family, the brand's rightful pride in the history of watchmaking, serves in the new model. The automatic movement, which is remembered with its characteristic high-frequency value of 5Hz (36,000vph), is equipped with a column wheel and horizontal concept chronograph feature. The movement, which can be viewed through the sapphire crystal-partitioned case back, performs above industry standards with its 60-hour power reserve when fully wound.

The stylish model comes with a three-piece bracelet with a simpler design instead of the "ladder" type bracelet we are used to seeing with the A386. The elegant and comfortable bracelet is fastened to the wrist with a Zenith-signed folding clasp.

The new model is added to the current collection as a special edition, not as a limited edition. Only during the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign (October 1 - 31) and through Zenith's physical and online boutiques worldwide, 20% of sales proceeds are donated to Susan G. Komen. The list price for the model is 9,900 CHF.
