Zenith, who introduced its latest models at the WatchWeek Dubai 2020 event hosted by the LVMH Group, attracted a great deal of attention with its limited production Zenith Defy 21 Carl Cox Edition model that is inspired by the world famous DJ and producer Carl Cox.
The postponing of the major trade shows, which are among the core PR channels of the watchmaking industry, pushed many brands to organize alternative events. LVMH Group, one of the leading names in luxury business, organized a special event in Dubai to bring together the novelties of its four major brands under the same roof.
Zenith, one of the brands that took part in the event, received acclaim with its new model Zenith Defy 21 Carl Cox Edition, which is inspired by the legendary DJ and producer Carl Cox.
The model comes in a Defy 21 style case made of entirely carbon. The most striking feature of the case is its bezel, which is also made of carbon, featuring SuperLumiNOVA phosphor material particles. Thanks to this feature, the model’s bezel shines in a yellow/green tone under the UV light, which is common in nightclubs. A nice detail for the model’s Carl Cox connection. The winding crown and the chronograph pushers are also made of carbon.
Matte black tone is preferred for the dial of the model as well. Black SuperLumiNOVA filled and ruthenium-coated hands and hour markers have brought the full black concept of the model to the forefront. At 9 o’clock, the counter is made in the form of a vinyl record, which is another detail that nods to the legendary DJ of the 80s.
Zenith Defy 21 Carl Cox Edition beats with the fully manufacture Caliber El Primero 9004 automatic movement. With a chronograph function capable of measuring 1/100 of a second and a dual escapement operating at different frequencies, the movement offers a power reserve time of up to 50 hours when fully wound.
The model comes on a black rubber strap with red “Cordura effect” & Super-LumiNova stitching. A titanium double folding buckle with a black carbon head secures the strap.
Limited to a span of 200 units, the model is available for 21.450 CHF.
