Zenith Defy Revival A3691

Zenith Defy Revival A3691

Zenith expands its Revival collection, where it offers the reproduction versions of its models that have written their name in the history of watchmaking with gold letters under the same roof, with a new version. A3691, one of the cult references of the Defy legend, is among the novelties of this year with its ruby-red gradient dial.

Sharing the same platform with the A3642, introduced in January last year, the new A3691 teleports watch lovers to 1971, the introduction year of the original model. The new model, unlike the A3642, is the first reference added to the Revival collection as a standard model, not a limited one.

The new model carries the technical features of the A3642, introduced by the brand in 1969, and redefined the definition of originality with its octagonal case accompanied by a unique 14-sided bezel. The cult model, remembered by the "bank safe" phrase used by Zenith in its advertisements in those years, comes with a case designed with a diameter of 37mm and a height of 13.60mm, just like the original model released in 1969. The octagonal case, made of stainless steel and featuring both glossy and matte surfaces, hosts the characteristic 14-corner bezel. The unique case, sporting sapphire crystals on the front and back, is waterproof up to 300 meters with the help of the screw-down crown.

The model sports a ruby-red dial with a gradient background pattern that refers to the 70s. There are round dots made of Super-LumiNOVA phosphor material on the lower parts of the ridged applique indexes. The retro-themed dial displays the time through paddle-shaped hands and features a date window at 4:30.

The modern version takes its power from the in-house designed and produced Elite Caliber 670 movement. Working at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph), the automatic movement offers 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

Another period-correct detail of the new model is its stainless steel bracelet. Inspired by the bracelet designed and produced for Zenith by the legendary metal bracelet manufacturer Gay Freres, the ladder-type bracelet is fixed to the wrist with a Zenith-signed folding clasp.
