I always like the sky and stars theme. The 1966 collection, inspired by Girard-Perregaux's pocket watches, brings the starry sky theme to the wrists with its new thin cased, aventurine dial models.

Girard-Perregaux 1966 Orion Trilogy models refer to Zeus sending the Hunter Orion to the sky as a constellation in Greek mythology. In the constellation of Orion, which are noticeable with the naked eye, especially in the winter, Betelgeuse falls with the right shoulder of the hunter, Bellatrix to the left shoulder, Rigel to the left foot and Saiph to the right foot. The three stars laying diagonally in the middle form the belt of the hunter, the Orion’s Belt. The Orion Nebula, which is located under the belt and is the grave of a dead star, is the hunter's sword. The stars on the top left are Betelgeuse’s right arm while the Bellatrix on the right side is his shield.

Three elegant interpretations in the collection are a poetic reference to three bright stars that illuminate the belt. Aventurine dials tribute the constellation, which includes two of the 10 brightest stars seen from Earth. Chinese astronomers knew Orion as Shen, a great warrior who fought in the sky with his three-star belt. This constellation is seen almost the same in Europe and China, which makes it very rare.

Girard-Perregaux 1966 Orion comes in three versions: steel (Ref. 49555-11-435-BB4A), DLC coated steel (49555-11-631-BB6D) and 18K rose gold (Ref. 49555-52-431-BB4A). The watches, each of which is 40mm, have a sapphire crystal case back and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating on the front. Thanks to the coating on both parts, you feel as if you could touch those little stars when you look at the dial. The case is water resistance up to 30 meters.

The curved sapphire adds depth to the black and blue aventurine dials, reminiscent of a night sky. The contrast created by the luminous aventurine dials and indexes with silver, black or gold tones reflects the elegance of the 1966 collection.

Girard-Perregaux 1966 Orion models beat with the automatic movement Caliber GP03300-0132/0139, which offers a minimum of 46 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

Hand-sewn blue and anthracite straps and buckles made from the same material with the cases complement the models in the new Girard-Perregaux 1966 Orion Trilogy collection.
