IWC Schaffhausen presents a new version of the Portugieser Automatic 40, equipped with a stainless steel case and salmon-colored dial.

Adding to the collection in 2020, the Portugieser Automatic 40 is a model that brings the timeless design of the first Portugieser watch released in the late 1930s to the present day with a compact and comfortable 40-millimeter case. The new version is powered by the IWC-manufactured Caliber 82200 caliber, which has a 60-hour power reserve.

The design, which IWC brought to life with the Reference 325 in the late 1930s, has since turned into a classic and has become a common feature of the Portugieser family. The characteristic minute scale and the seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock are indispensable elements of the well-organized, clear, and open dial design. The timeless design of the Portugieser Automatic 40 is crowned with a stylish and ergonomic case with a diameter of 40 millimeters.

The new version of the Portugieser Automatic 40 (Ref. IW358313) features a stainless steel case, as well as rhodium-plated hands and hour markers. However, the most striking detail is the salmon-colored dial of the watch. Salmon color is displayed with all its elegance on the dial, thanks to the reduced size of the Portugieser design and the refined sunray pattern. The black crocodile leather strap, complete with a butterfly folding clasp, also offers an image that is in harmony with the color of the dial.

At the heart of the watch is the IWC production Caliber 82200 movement. This robust and precise automatic movement houses the winding system developed by Albert Pellaton, the former technical director of IWC since the 1950s. The movement accumulates a 60-hour power reserve by using the movements of the rotor in both directions. It also defies the abrasive effect of time thanks to its components made of zirconium oxide ceramic.

The Portugieser Automatic 40 model is scheduled to go on sale at IWC boutiques, authorized retailers, and IWC.com in April. The standard two-year International Limited Warranty period can be extended to 8 years by enrolling the watch in the My IWC maintenance program.
