IWC Portugieser New Models

Although all fairs and organizations have been canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic, that has affected the whole world, the brands continue to introduce their novelties to the watch enthusiasts. Today, here we are with the renewed Portugieser model family of IWC.

The history of the Portugieser family, which is among the most iconic product groups of the brand, dates back to the 1930s. The first model (Ref. 325, which has been exclusively designed for two Portuguese businessmen, features a movement taken from a pocket watch and a dial inspired by a table clock. The collection, which has expanded with models produced with many different movements and designs, is before us once again.

The Portugieser Automatic 40 (Ref. IW3583)

xThe simple yet cult design of the model family is back in the current collection. The model, which has a small seconds counter at 6 o'clock, also comes in a reduced case compared to previous years at 40mm. Offered in stainless steel and 18K gold, the new model has three different dial options and beats with the IWC in-house Caliber 82200 automatic movement providing 60 hours of power reserve.

The Portugieser Automatic (Ref. IW5007)

Another entry model of the Portugieser family comes with the IW5007 reference. Unlike the Automatic 40 model, the small second's display is located at 9 o'clock. Besides, this model uses the IWC in-house automatic Caliber 52610 with a 7-day power reserve, and the power reserve indicator is located at 3 o'clock.

The Portugieser Chronograph

Three new models have been added to the Chronograph collection. While two of them stand out with their maroon and green dials, the last blue dial with 18K gold model took its place in the collection to be sold only in boutiques. The newly introduced and the current models in the chronograph product line share the same technical features and are distinguished only by their dial colors only.

The Portugieser Tourbillon Retrograde Chronograph (Ref. IW3940)

Our next two models promise almost everything to its users in terms of complications. The new model comes with two different case materials as 18K Armor Gold or platinum. The blue dial gold model will only be sold in IWC boutiques. The model, which comes in a 43,5mm case, is only 16mm thick despite the Tourbillon, Retrograde, and chronograph complications. The in-house Caliber 89900 movement powers the models, each of which will be limited to 50 pieces. The model with the Flying Minute Tourbillon at 6 o'clock and the date display at 9 o'clock also has the Flyback Chronograph function. The Caliber 89900 movement offers 68 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon (Ref. IW5045)

Another complication wonder model is the Ref. IW5045. As with the previous model, it comes in two different case materials: platinum and the 18K Armor Gold version that will only be sold in boutiques. Both models will be limited production with 50 pieces. The in-house Caliber 51950 movement powers models with a 45mm case diameter. The Flying Minute Tourbillon complication is located at 12 o'clock in the model, which offers a 7-day power reserve when fully wound. The indicators for the Perpetual Calendar feature are located in the 3-6-9 sequence.

The Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph (REF. IW3907)

The Yacht Club, the most sportive model of the collection, has been in the Portugieser model family since 2010. Highlighting the sporty side of the collection, the model also allows you to be a little closer to the water with its water resistance value of 60 meters. Powered by the in-house Caliber 89361 movement with Flyback Chronograph, the model offers a 68-hour power reserve when fully wound. The 44.6mm diameter model has three different versions in total.

The Portugieser Yacht Club Moon & Tide (REF. IW344001)

The special model in the Yacht Club collection is the Moon & Tide. There is a tide indicator developed by IWC on the model. The tide indicator at 6 o'clock operates in coordination with the moon phase indicator at 12 o'clock. The 18K gold case model has a 44.6mm case. Offering 30 meters of water resistance, the model gets its power from the in-house Caliber 82835 movement.

The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 (Ref. IW 3442)

The Perpetual Calendar model, first designed by Kurt Klaus in the 1980s, has become one of the most iconic models of not only the Portugieser family but of the IWC. Today, this model is now included in the entire in-house Caliber 82000 family. Thanks to the newly designed movement, the model, which, comes in a 42 mm case. As with the previous models, the combination of the gold case/blue dial will only be available through the boutiques. The model, which requires no adjustments for 577 years, also hosts a moon phase indicator at 6 o'clock.

The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Boutique Edition (Ref. IW 503312)

The latest innovation of the Portugieser model family is the 44mm Boutique Edition version of the Perpetual Calendar. The model with four sub-dials shows a great affinity for the Portugieser models in the current collection. The model brought to life by the Caliber 52610 offering a 7-day power reserve when fully wound.
