Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin New Models

Piaget is under the spotlight with the flagship Perpetual Calendar versions of its successful representative in the sport-chic segment, the Polo Collection.

Polo, which started to appear in the brand's catalogs in 1979, was the bold core product line that made up about 1/3 of Piaget's total sales success in the 1980s. The collection, which took its place among the current model families of the brand after its extensive renovation in 2016, succeeded in winning the hearts of watch lovers with many different versions.

The long-established model family that represents the brand in the ever-popular sport-chic segment, has expanded with new versions introduced at the recently ended Watches & Wonders 2023 watch fair. Let's take a closer look at the models, which underline how experienced the brand is not only in ultra-thin but also in grand complication calibers with their Perpetual Calendar-enabled mechanisms, accompanied by live photographs.

Let's start with the common points of the models with the Perpetual Calendar feature. All three models in the collection come with 42mm diameter and 8.65mm diameter cases. Emphasizing the brand's history in ultra-thin watches, the elegant case distinguishes itself from its peers in the world of watches with its cushion-style design. The case, which is among the modern classics of the watch world with its cult lines, comes in stainless steel, 18K white gold, and 18K pink gold alternatives. On the front of the 18K white gold model, there is a gem-set bezel with baguette cut sapphires emphasizing the use of precious stones, another subject that the brand is experienced in. Scratch-resistant sapphire crystals are used on both sides of the case, where matte and glossy surfaces are used together. Offering an iconic image with its characteristic thick and flat bezel, the case sports a Piaget-signed crown and recessed pushers on the case bands. The case, which compromises a little from its sporty aspect with its water resistance limited to 30 meters, easily makes you forget this weakness with its elegance and comfort on the wrist.

Among the new models, stainless steel and 18K pink gold versions host emerald green dials. Embossed horizontal lines, identified with the model family, are used as the floor pattern on the dials, which host applique indices and elegant hands prepared according to the case material.

The 18K white gold model has a blue/purple dial made of obsidian material. Obsidian, which is formed by the rapid cooling of lava from a volcano, is known as volcanic glass. The natural iridescence found on the model's obsidian dial is created when droplets of mineral-rich sulfide liquid become trapped in the rock as it solidifies. As a natural consequence of this process, no two stones look the same as each other.

On the dials, which underline the brand's experience with its elegant and eye-catching design, besides the time tracking, day, month, date, leap year and moon phase information can also be followed.

Caliber Piaget 1255, designed and produced by the brand in-house, gives life to all models. Based on the Caliber 1200P movement, the automatic caliber with micro-rotor impresses watch lovers with its total thickness of 4mm. Working at a frequency of 3Hz (21,600vph), the movement can offer up to 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

Among the new models, the stainless steel version is available with a metal bracelet and a green rubber strap matching the dial tone. While the 18K pink gold model is accompanied by a green rubber strap, the 18K white gold version has dark blue crocodile leather and rubber strap options in the same tone.
